HDR

The intent of this group is to feature pictures and discussion surrounding HDR specific technology and tools (Photoshop >CS2 / Photomatix / Maya / HDR cameras) used for creating or developing high bit HDR images. (if it doesn't say HDR it's not HDR) :: Group Photo Guidelines :: (limit)1 photo each day Please only post images created with HDR specific technology like those listed above Share the love, er just share! Please comment on other pics in the pool as you add yours. Use multiple exposures (more than one shot in camera) otherwise you're only working with luminosity from one exposure. The more the exposures the higher the dynamic range. Tag your image with "HDR" Tag your image with the amount of exposures. e.g. 2xp, 3xp, 7xp : : TIPS : : Shoot RAW, the more exposure data per image, the higher the dynamic range. Raw has much more luminosity data than Jpeg. Shoot as many exposures as you think might be required to capture the brightest highlight and darkest shadow in your scene (photoshop) use "local adaptation" / Curves for developing your shot and getting what you're after (it takes practice, but it's worth it) Try photomatix. www.hdrsoft.com - many here prefer it to photoshop. Try FDRToolswww.fdrtools.com - their intro page has a good demonstration of pics from different exposures. : : FAQ : : : : Where can I learn more about HDR? Please see the topic "What is HDR" for more detailed information on HDR specific technology. : : What about using layer stacking and masking to blend exposures? Those pics do not meet HDR criteria and have a group which can be found here. (more info) : : I'm using Photomatix or hacking photoshop (exif data) so I can create multiple exposures from 1 RAW file. Are those welcomed here? Unless you modify the exif file, Photoshop won't let you create an HDR image using JPEG's created from 1 RAW file. Photomatix will, and there is another group dedicated to output from Photomatix which can be found here. Technically you can post pics here developed from this process but only if you use the HDR development process in these tools and use the tagging convention above. : : I'm doing HDR with Maya or another 3D rendering application, is this group just for photos? It started out that way, but your high-quality output renderings using HDR are welcome here. Especially if they help us learn more about what HDR is and how it is used in other mediums. Note: spam, trolling, and shameless self-promotion is not welcome here. Users, pictures, or posts suspect of this may be removed without notice. Flickr Group Trackr graph
